The story behind...
Share your Spare
It all began early 2017 when Austin ran across a Facebook post from a childhood friend. Identical twins and long time friends of Austin, Kaylee and Aubree Adams both suffer from FSGS or Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis. This is a rare disease that leads to kidney failure. Aubree's kidney was failing, and when Austin saw she needed one, he wasted no time in beginning the process to see if he was a possible match. As it turns out, he was. By then however, someone else had already been cleared for Aubree's transplant.
Around the same time, Kaylee found out that she also needed a new kidney. Austin asked to be transfered to Kaylee as her donor, and this time, it went through. The operation was scheduled for 15 weeks and two days before his Minneapolis City Qualifiers run. But that didn't stop him.
The sucessful operation took place on February 8th, 2018. Kaylee and Austin both recovered though it was a bit of a challenge at first.
Austin jumped right back into training as soon as he could and as planned, comepeted in the Minneapolis City Qualifiers in May.
